This is quite possibly the easiest beauty product to make. If you use dry shampoo at all, I highly recommend making it yourself!
Gather together:
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- essential oil (optional)
- mixing bowl
- storage container
I chose organic for all my ingredients, because that’s what I had on hand, but it’s not necessary.
There are some options for the final storage container. The best choices are either a shallow, wide-mouthed jar (to use in conjunction with a large powder brush) or a shaker jar. I thrifted a set of glass salt and pepper shakers, but reusing a spice container would work well.
Combine cocoa powder and cornstarch in a mixing bowl. If you’re using a jar with a lid for your storage container, you can absolutely just dump the ingredients in and give it a good shake!
If you want, use a toothpick to break up a couple droplets of essential oil into your powder mixture, and stir (or shake jar) to distribute. Transfer product to your final container, pop on the lid, and give it a good shake. I opted not to use the oil in this batch; I rather like the smell of the cocoa!
To use your shampoo on dry hair, sprinkle a bit into your roots (or apply with a large cosmetic brush), massage & scrunch, and comb out.
My shaker doesn’t have a sealing lid, so I keep a layer of cling film underneath the cap when not in use.
